Counting down the days contest!

At this writing there are 11 days until Christmas!

I have not shopped much.  I have not begun baking.  I haven't even addressed 1 Christmas card yet!

This morning though, in the quiet of my little coach house, it doesn't matter.  I feel the spirit of Christmas and that little umph, that little charge that I get that induces me to go out of my way to pay a kindness or to sit down and craft something special for someone.  Do you know what I'm talking about?

It is a magical feeling that I try to keep all year 'round.

I am having a little contest.  The prize is a copy of "A Homemade Life" by Molly Wizenberg

To enter, please tell me in the comment space of this blog "How you celebrate the spirit of the season"

I welcome you as a fan to my site.

The winner will be chosen the Friday Dec. 18th!

Good Luck and I look forward to hearing your lovely responses!

Hugs,

Linder

  1. Every year we go to a place called Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm - a 1700's restored village that celebrates Christmas with candlelight tours, a living nativity in the barn, story telling, singing carols around the pot belly stove in the old schoolhouse, etc. It is such a nice break from the Christmas stress!

  5. Christmas eve will be spend at church. I sing in a choir and we will perform during the evening service. Christmas day first church, and thenn I will be home alone with my kitty Pinky. And day 2 (we have 2 Christmas days) I am invited to go to church friends tro spend the day, have a nice dinner.

But for me church is the most important. Won't be Christmas without church :)

  6. My family and I have put together holiday boxes for families that would not have a holiday without them. A complete turkey/ham dinner with all the fixings, including deserts, presents for all family members, clothes, toys etc. These boxes are delivered by Sheriffs Deputys, so the family does not know who sent them. We do several families each Christmas and to me thats magical and the true meaning of the holiday. Teresa/1badmamawolf on MJF

  10. This year, with funds limited like everyone else, we have asked our best friends and their children over for a night of cookie baking, games, and christmas music. Each of the eight children(ages 13-4) will bring their favorite cookie recipe and bake together as a group while the adults make plenty of Russian tea and Hot Chocolate. After the cookies are done the children are going to make cookies baskets for each of their teachers and friends that they wanted to buy gifts for this year but could not afford to.

I've enjoyed everyone's comments SO much!

I'm going to choose a winner randomly from a hat so there is equal opportunity all the way around.

I'll announce the winner in a bit!
